Plugin Store Updates
We have pushed out some nice changes to the plugin store that we think users and plugin developers are going to like:
- Emojis are now supported in all places on the website that support markdown - notably in the Plugin Store (descriptions, summaries, etc).
- Github Flavored Markdown is now supported in all the relevant plugin/release data. This means that developers can include tables, checklists, and strikethroughs and they will get rendered correctly on the website. This also includes the file library and the blog app as well.
- We have beefed up the download count support for plugin releases so they should be much more accurate moving forward (but they will be starting at 0 or for some the download count from Github).
- We are now showing the license that a plugin developer is using for each plugin in their Github repo. Users will find this useful in terms deciding if they want to install the plugin. Those with licenses should give users a better sense of security when using a plugin. How? Because a plugin that has a license (we prefer MIT or Unlicense, but GPL 2.0 is ok as well) means that if the developer decides to no longer support the plugin (or leaves the platform entirely), others can pick up maintenance/development of the plugin. Those without a license are much less likely to be picked up because the original developer retains the rights.
