I have an issue of it updating. using FMID version1.60. If I add my laptop device and it is turned off, then none of my devices get update. Once I deleted the laptop, the update completed successfully. However, on the map the updates do not get stored. I did a force update using the plug-in menu Force update. The map data continues to provide the 9/29/12 data points. I went to each device and re-saved them starting with the login device. This is the first version I've installed. I created these devices: login device, 2 iPhone devices, 1 iPad device.

It also wold be nice to have a force update on the provided web page and the ability to have multiple Apple login ID's (my wish list).

There's no reason that I can think of that your laptop being off, would interfere with FMID.... Is there any error messages in the log file?

Multiple Apple ID's are already supported, just create another Apple ID device, and use that to point to the other IDevices....

Sadly, the current IWS implementation does not allow me to communicate from the Web Side to the plugin. I can only save data from the plugin that the IWS page can then read as needed...

Once Indigo Web Services (IWS) is fully integrated into the new Indigo framework, I'll be able to add that, but the time frame for that is up to Matt and Jay.

Re: Find my iDevices!

Update again... I deleted the laptop figuring that error was causing your web page to not update. I was right. After I deleted the device that could not be updated (it's turned off), then did a force update, the web page updated, but not with the correct information. The update was not from the current placement of the device though. It was about an hour ago.

I then went to iCloud and manually updated the device status there and it showed the proper location.

Prior to force updating the plugin, I clicked on the 2 placed that were listed (1 place has all but 1 device). The one place where most of the devices where located in had complete information in the pop-up... name, location, time/date, etc. The other device popup was blank except for the title which was FMID Map. see screen shots and note that the location of the one device (in blue is the wrong location by an hour). Note the screen shots below.

Screen Shot 2012-09-28 at 7.58.56 AM.png (29.23 KiB) Viewed 4742 times

I went back to the plugin and did a force update. But the information still did not update to match what shows in iCloud when I manually updated it. I also went to control page I created with the list of devices and where I put update status when clicking on it. I clicked on it to update status, but still not matching.

The last screen shot is from iCloud showing the discrepancy.

After waiting a few days, then force updating (where I see the errors sporadically, the web page updates. Yea! This plug-in has some really good potential! The traceback error from the previous post, is re-creatable. It seems to happen after you do a force update about 3-4 times.

Thanks,
Matthew

Isn't related to FMID. That's an issue with the RFXCOM plugin. I'd suggest pointing that out to the author....

I'm currently tearing apart FMID, upgrading it to be multithreaded. Once that's done, I will also be looking at the file exchange system, to see if there is someway to trace this issue down.

I would suggest going through the logs, and see if you can track down any errors that are from FMID... It would say Find My iDevices error, and then some code...

If you can find any, that might help narrow down what is causing the issue.... But that situation is the only one that I can think of that would prevent the pickle_file from being created in the IWS directory...

Re: Find my iDevices!

Thanks for the info. I posted the traceback error in the wrong area.

As far as your plug in... sounds like a good game plan and good luck. I will try to see if there are specifics as to when the iPad does not get populated with the data on the map pop up.

Thanks again!

Thanks,
Matthew

There's nothing wrong with your post... I'm just clarifying that it appears to be a RFXCom error...

So FMID isn't updating the web page? Are the FMID devices updating their time/date stamps?

Re: Find my iDevices!

Devices are updating. But 1 anomaly and 2 strange occurrences:
1. The iPad pop up is blank. the iPhone pop up shows the lat and log and the other metadata. See the 1st screen shot.

2. The iPad and one iPhone are at the same location (next to each other < 1ft). They display at different locations (about 1 mile apart). All the metadata is the except accuracy phone is 165, iPad is 65 (exact same lat/log) See the 2nd screen shot.

3. Unrelated to the other 2, my router stopped traffic at 3am this morning. after getting the internet back online and verifying it, I tried to do a force update on FMID. when clicking on Force update in the plugins menu the log showed these log entries and they occurred within about 10 seconds - so it looks like it did not get very far in the process to update. I unloaded, then re-loaded the plugin and then it updated.

Re: Find my iDevices!

v1.71 has been released.

• Changes
⁃ v1.71 - Released 10/25/2012
⁃ Multi-threaded design to help prevent any bottlenecks with the Indigo Server.
⁃ Removed a debug statement that would output the Sitenames when the FMID web page was displayed.
⁃ Restored Battery & Charging Status, since that data now seems to be reasonably accurate.
⁃ Please note, I have noticed the Battery Power Level to be off by as much as 3-6%. I am returning the values from Apple, and rounding them at 2 decimal places…. Beyond that rounding, the accuracy is up to Apple.
⁃ The Battery & Charging Status appear to only work with iOS v6 devices. Desktops, and earlier devices return an Unknown status, and 0 % charge.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/241415/Find%20 ... 0v1.71.zip

This has release has had some major refactoring to allow the multithreaded design to work.

Evidently the single thread design could cause issues when a device or trigger was edited when FMID was actively polling the Find My iPhone server. The new multithreaded design prevents this from happening, and should help prevent any bottlenecks at the Indigo server...

If you notice any issues, please let me know.

Hi Benjamin, thanks for the excellent plugin. I'm using the latest v1.7.1 plugin and have 2 iDevices (iPhone and iPad), at the Event Log, every 10 seconds I kept seeing the following (I restarted indigo Server, and it went quiet for a while before these messages coming back)

Blue pin points are locations, not devices. Device's are always red.

Do you have any map location devices defined? If not, are you sure that your lattitude and longitude are set correctly in FMID's preferences?

The 2nd screen shot doesn't have a 2nd device shown... That being said, the accuracy of the data from FMID is dependent on the data that the Find My iPhone service returns. All I do is take the data from Apple's service, and display it.

It could be that it couldn't reach the Apple fMIP server, I don't see any error messages in the log, but it's possible that networking issue was still occurring?

Please let me know if this re-occurs....

Extra digits shouldn't matter... Just to verify, your going to the Plugin Menu, choosing Find My iDevices, and clicking on Preferences?
And your not looking a map location device?

Re: Find my iDevices!

Yes I applied the latitude and longitude on the Plugin - Find my IDevices Preferences. The location data is updated every 15 min.

I also have Apple ID Login into iCloud device, 2 iDevices registration devices, no Map Location Devices.

The states displayed in the Indigo Device info (e.g. BatteryPowerLevel, DistanceAway) seems to be updated fine. However the devices are not showing up in Find my iDevices Indigo Webserver page (It was working when I installed the plugin earlier last night).

Do you see any crashes, or errors in the log?

Please cut and paste the log file section of the FMID run....So that I can see what is happening, or email me directly @ benjamin at schollnick dot net....
